Blindness can't dim dreams: Lalmonirhat admin ensures SSC exam for visually impaired student Vishal

Kallol Ahmed, Lalmonirhat Correspondent:;An extraordinary humanitarian effort by the Lalmonirhat administration has enabled a visually impaired SSC candidate to sit for his public examinations, setting a bright example of compassion and commitment to education.

According to sources, Vishal Sarkar, an SSC 2026 examinee from Lalmonirhat Government High School, successfully completed his Bangla 1st and 2nd papers. However, he suddenly developed severe eye complications. His vision first became blurred, and within a short time, he lost his eyesight completely, creating uncertainty over his remaining exams.

After learning of the situation, Lalmonirhat Deputy Commissioner and the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ICT/Education) took immediate action. Under their direction, the Civil Surgeon, school authorities, and concerned officials coordinated to ensure Vishal could continue his exams.

Special contributions came from Muktobul Hossain, Head Teacher of Lalmonirhat Government Boys’ High School; Civil Surgeon Dr. Abdul Hakim; Ekramul Haque Sarkar, Head Teacher of Tista KR Khadem High School; journalist Kallol Ahmed; English teacher Md. Robiul Islam Nijhum; private tutor Md. Khairul Islam; and members of the Scout team.

Through their combined efforts, Adnan, a Class Eight student, was appointed as a scribe for Vishal at the Lalmonirhat Government Girls’ High School examination center. With Adnan’s assistance, Vishal has been successfully appearing in his exams.

Family sources said Vishal lives in the Kulaghat Bazar area of Lalmonirhat. His father is Bishwajit Sarkar, and his younger sister is a Class Seven student at a local school. Vishal is known in his community as a polite, talented, and disciplined student.

Journalist Kallol Ahmed, father of Vishal’s friend Latifur Rahman Nahid, played a key role in bringing the matter to the administration’s attention. He quickly contacted relevant officials, ensuring swift administrative action.

The incident has drawn widespread appreciation from the local community. Conscious citizens say such humanitarian initiatives set a positive example for society and prove that with goodwill, no obstacle can block the path of education.
