Special Correspondent: Pakistan Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has invited Türkiye's leading telecommunications company, Turkcell, to partner with Pakistan in advancing digital transformation, including the proposed Pakistan–Türkiye Digital Corridor and next-generation technology projects.
The invitation came during a meeting with Turkcell Chief Executive Officer Ali Taha Koç in Istanbul on Saturday, where the two sides discussed expanding bilateral cooperation in the digital and technology sectors.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of strengthening Pakistan–Türkiye collaboration in information and communication technologies. He outlined the government's vision of establishing a Pakistan–Türkiye Digital Corridor aimed at enhancing regional digital connectivity, facilitating secure cross-border data flows, and promoting the integration of digital infrastructure.
Highlighting Pakistan's rapidly expanding digital economy, Shehbaz Sharif invited Turkcell to explore long-term partnerships with Pakistani institutions in key areas such as 5G deployment, network optimization, spectrum management, digital infrastructure development, and technology transfer.
The Prime Minister also encouraged the company to consider investment opportunities in the local manufacturing of telecommunications equipment, software development, digital skills training, and capacity building. He said such cooperation would strengthen Pakistan's technology ecosystem while creating new opportunities for innovation, employment, and sustainable economic growth.
Reaffirming the government's commitment to attracting foreign investment, the Prime Minister said Pakistan would continue to provide a transparent, predictable, and investment-friendly business environment. He noted that the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) is playing a key role in facilitating strategic investments, particularly in high-value sectors such as information and communication technologies.
Mr. Koç appreciated Pakistan's forward-looking digital transformation agenda and expressed Turkcell's strong interest in exploring collaboration opportunities in telecommunications, digital infrastructure, and emerging technologies.
He reaffirmed Turkcell's commitment to working closely with relevant Pakistani stakeholders to develop mutually beneficial partnerships that support the shared economic and technological ambitions of Pakistan and Türkiye.
