Mijanur Rahman Akanda, Phulpur: The Mymensingh District Social Welfare Council has distributed grant cheques among registered voluntary organizations in Phulpur Upazila to support their social welfare activities.The cheque distribution ceremony was held at the Upazila Parishad Hall Room on Thursday, with Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mohammad Yusuf presiding over the event.A total of Tk 280,000 was distributed among 10 general voluntary organizations registered under the Department of Social Services. The organizations received grants of varying amounts to strengthen their community-based initiatives and social development programmes.Among those present were Alhaj Siddiqur Rahman, Convener of Phulpur Upazila BNP; Helal Uddin, Member Secretary of the Upazila BNP; Golam Kibria, Ameer of Phulpur Upazila Jamaat-e-Islami; Azim Uddin Jamali, President of the Upazila unit of Bangladesh Khelafat Majlish; and local journalists.The programme was conducted by Shihab Uddin Khan, Upazila Social Services Officer.The financial assistance is expected to enhance the capacity of local voluntary organizations in implementing social welfare programmes and contributing to community development.
