Bangladesh, Pakistan eye stronger defence cooperation

Desk Report: Pakistan High Commissioner to Bangladesh Imran Haider on Sunday paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister's Defence Adviser Brigadier General (retd) Dr AKM Shamsul Islam at the Armed Forces Division (AFD) in Dhaka Cantonment, where the two sides discussed ways to further strengthen bilateral defence ties.

The Pakistan High Commissioner was accompanied by a three-member delegation during the meeting, according to a press release issued by the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).

During the talks, both sides reviewed the existing bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Pakistan and exchanged views on a range of issues of mutual interest.

The discussions placed particular emphasis on enhancing military-to-military cooperation, sharing professional expertise and expanding training-related activities between the armed forces of the two countries.

Both Bangladesh and Pakistan underscored the importance of closer defence engagement and expressed optimism that the meeting would contribute to further strengthening friendly relations and broadening defence collaboration in the years ahead.

The meeting reflects the continued efforts of the two countries to deepen cooperation in defence and professional military exchanges while maintaining constructive bilateral engagement, the ISPR said.
